Big industry in Fort Mac is recruiting an unlikely ally in the effort to reclaim industrial land with wildflowers as it is being returned to its natural state.
Acden Vertex has brought in bees to encourage the return of wild flower, shrub and tree varietals in areas that have been mined for gravel and heavy oil – and are now being returned to their natural state.
The bees are just a part of the efforts to return mined land to boreal forest after industry has passed through.
