The Peace Country around Grande Prairie is home to the largest concentration of Bison ranches in Canada. These large ungulates roam wild across vast ranches, lean and free of growth hormones that are used to fatten domestic cows.
Where are the bison this morning? You have to get in your truck or send out your drone and go find them. And Grande Prairie’s bison ranchers are also busy finding markets in Europe and Asia for the big shaggy animals that defined the Old West.
